Ben Hubbard is a minor fictional character from the Superman films. He is a neighbor who looks after Martha Kent in Smallville while Clark is in Metropolis. The character was mentioned in the first Superman movie, and was to appear in the movie Superman Returns, played by James Karen, but his scene was cut from the theatrical release.
Ben Hubbard has also been mentioned in the TV series Smallville. When Martha goes off to Washington, D.C. as the Senator of Kansas, Clark is left to take care of the farm and says that he will sell the back 40 acres (160,000 m2) to Ben Hubbard, who has wanted the land for years. He has been mentioned in several more episodes after that. When Clark is away from the farm, Ben is said to have taken care of the farm for him.
